My Students

I am an Early Childhood Special Education teacher at an amazing school that serves students from pre-k to 8th grade.

I am lucky to be the teacher of 20 incredible 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds with various disabilities including Autism, Down syndrome cerebral palsy, and more.

Most of my students are nonverbal and communicate through pictures, gestures, or AAC devices. In my classroom, we focus on teaching communication, social-emotional, play, and independent functioning skills in addition to academics. Each day, my students come ready and excited to learn new things. I am truly honored to be their teacher and look forward to helping them grow throughout the year. Thank you for considering donating to an amazing group of students.

My Project

The materials that I have selected in this project would make a great addition to our classroom. I know that all of the materials would be used right away. For example, one of the items that I am requesting is cube chairs which would be used on a daily basis. We already are fortunate enough to have one set of cube chairs thanks to the very generous people who donated to my last project. However, we need more chairs for the new students enrolling in the class.

In my classroom, my students will utilize the materials like the cube chairs, the manipulatives, and the toys on a daily basis.

We need more math manipulatives in the classroom in order to do more hands on math activities. The fun Lakeshore manipulatives are a great way to keep students engaged in the math lessons. We also need more developmentally appropriate toys in the classroom likes the ones I have selected in this project to work on foundational play skills.
