Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My seventh graders are finishing up the unit "Game On!" in ELA this month. This particular unit of study focuses on how games impact our lives. We read different texts (short stories, informational articles, novel verses, and poems) to fully explore the importance of games and their positive effects on us. Soon they will begin drafting imagined short stories of their own where their protagonist is involved in a team or individual sport or game. To give them an even deeper exposure to sports and games, I have planned a Sports Day for them go outside and enjoy hours of playing sports and games.
Participating in sports and games as a class will help my students build stronger connections while promoting both physical and mental well-being.
This celebratory day will give them the chance to engage in extended physical activity, discover new games and sports, and form lasting bonds with their peers.
The kickballs, cornhole, toss and catch sets, and the team racing supplies will to allow them the opportunity to try out different games, especially partner or team games, that they may never have gotten the chance to play before. The water and snacks will keep them hydrated and nourished during this physical day.
My goal is to create a memorable experience for my students that is centered around being active and being healthy. With these supplies, future seventh grade classes will be also be able to enjoy their days of fun in motion! Your donations will help make this possible.
