Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Math can be a boring subject for students to learn, but I like fun, hands-on activities that will increase engagement. This year I started to make card sorts, number trails, and matching games. In order to use it for all classes I laminate the activities and put them on card stock.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they have different ways of learning.

I would like to stay organized with my materials, and I would like to have bins so that they are not lost or damaged. This will also be done by having rings to keep the sets together. I will also be able to make math more alive by adding color to their activities. We will be able to have colors associated with numbers and letters. These materials will also allow them to expand their note-taking skills in an interactive notebook.

Finally, with these materials, I will create a vocabulary for the wall and allow students to understand important words for classes and tests. I will also be able to have students be able to work on a whiteboard to collaborate on problems. This is using a building thinking classroom model.
