This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In today's society, kids are losing the board game etiquette that I learned in my childhood. Screens and video platforms open their world to playing with others, but not in the same way that a good old board game will.
Board games offer a unique, engaging way to reinforce critical skills such as literacy, numeracy, cooperation, and problem-solving.
With young learners, hands-on experiences are essential for developing foundational knowledge, and games provide a structured yet enjoyable environment to practice these skills. By integrating games into the daily or weekly routine, we aim to create a dynamic classroom atmosphere that encourages both academic growth and social development.
The goal is to acquire a diverse selection of age-appropriate games that target various learning objectives, including basic math operations, vocabulary development, and strategic thinking. With intentional use, these resources will support differentiated instruction by catering to multiple learning styles and abilities. This gift will allow us to build a sustainable collection of high-quality materials that can be used year after year. The impact will extend beyond academic achievement by fostering a love of learning and building a strong sense of classroom community. By investing in board games, we are investing in playful, purposeful learning that supports the whole child—intellectually, socially, and emotionally. We appreciate your consideration in helping us create a vibrant, engaging, and supportive learning environment for our first graders.
