My Project
In our classroom, learning doesn’t stop on Fridays, it just gets more fun! I’m hoping to bring in a collection of engaging, hands-on math games to support our weekly Fun Friday activities. These games not only build essential number sense and problem-solving skills but also encourage collaboration, critical thinking, and creative strategy.
We’re requesting: Jump 1 Math Game, Greg Tang’s Number Skills Games, Shut the Box, Qwirkle, Block by Block, and Rush Hour.
These carefully selected games will support mental math, logic, spatial reasoning, and strategy, all in ways that make math feel like play. But there’s a deeper purpose, too.
Each game session will be paired with a short reflection that connects math to our broader learning about climate and environmental responsibility. For example, we’ll discuss how logic and problem-solving help climate scientists and engineers develop clean energy solutions, how strategic thinking supports conservation planning, and how efficient choices in games mirror smart choices in reducing waste and protecting the Earth.
By integrating environmental awareness into our game-based math time, students will not only sharpen their academic skills, but they'll also begin to see themselves as future problem-solvers for our planet.
