My Students
My students are an exceptional group of Kindergarten, First, and Second graders who receive learning support services indicated by their Individualized Education Program. Services include direct Reading and Math instruction, Behavioral Support, and Social Skills Instruction. They are serviced outside of the general education classroom with and without their same aged peers.
My Project
Most of my students need to strengthen their socialization skills, coordination, and working memory. One way to do this is by giving them an opportunity to engage in constructive group play. Each week, my students earn time to socialize on Friday afternoons.
Through activities such as Bean Bag Toss, Don't Break the Ice Game, Jenga, and Chutes and Ladders, my students will learn the importance of sharing, fairness, and teamwork.
In addition, memory games like Bop It will support memory skills and bean bag tossing will support their coordination skills. Since this constructive play-time has to be earned, my students will also learn the value of patience, rewards, and working towards an end goal.
