Fun, Flexible, and Focused Learning!

My Students

Imagine walking into a first-grade classroom where most everyone else can read and you barely know your letters. My classroom is made up of children from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. There are five different languages spoken in my classroom. Several of my children have never had formal schooling. Others are able to read above grade level​ but need to work on inflection.

Despite these challenges, all my students come into my classroom each day eager to learn!

My Project

Having wiggle seats as a choice of flexible seating and being able to move gives my students an edge on learning. Wiggle seats will provide them with an outlet to stay focused while being in a small group with a teacher at an accessible table. Having a group table is helpful for more one on one interventions and positive learning experiences.

Small groups at a table with a teacher are beneficial to add extra support to students that struggle.

Making sure my students are comfortable is essential in motivating their learning. Working together with a teacher at a table provides them with a comforting environment. I have noticed when they are working alongside a teacher they are less frustrated, ​complete more work, and stay on task.
