My Project
Our students have missed out on several years of socializing and playing during recess and P.E. This has negatively impacted their social skills and cooperative learning. I have requested a variety of recess equipment that our entire school can use daily at lunch recess. Games such as volleyball, foursquare, football, soccer, and basketball can help students learn how to play together in their own controlled games again. Giving students every opportunity to be active and play games is extremely important, since students have been tied to computer screens during the Covid-19 pandemic. The items I have requested will allow our middle school kids to use teamwork and practice taking turns and learning good sportsmanship. These are great life skills that will serve them well the more they can practice them. I have also requested badminton sets for our life skills students. We have used these sets in the past, and our life skills students love to join in and play. Our sets are currently broken, so it would be beneficial to have new rackets and birdies for our kids. These sets give them the opportunity to be successful and have fun in our P.E. classes. Finally, allowing kids to have a variety of recess and P.E. equipment gives kids the chance to get their energy out in a fun and safe manner during these certain times in their school day. Hopefully when they return to their core classrooms, they will be awake, focused, and ready to learn! Thank you for your consideration for my project!
