Help me give my students an amazing intervention experience. These items will provide them with comfy seating, and tools for both reading and math!

My Project

I am a reading specialist for a K-5 elementary school. My students are usually behind grade level and a lot of times they are discouraged and unmotivated. My intervention room is a fun, exciting place for them to gather with like peers to close the gaps they are experiencing. It is a place where they don't have to worry about being judged or feel self conscious. This project will help continue to make this room inviting, as well as provide so many additional resources and supports for these kiddos.

It has been proven that comfort is critical for student success.

This begins with the seating the students get to choose from when they enter my room. This is where the swivel loung chairs, sofa, cushions, and floor pillows come into play. The seating is only the beginning of what makes intervention time so much fun.

The manipulatives that a student gets to use while in interventions is also extremely important. These items can change a students attitude and behavior towards learning. The LCD writing table will be use for students to sound out and spell their CVC and site words. The fidget game and extra pop its will be use to help students learn to read. The voice recorders will be sent home with different groups throughout the week so students can record themselves reading at night, then return it and play it for me the next day. The gel pens will be used for my 4th and 5th grade students who are learning to annotate passages.

Being able to go to the treasure box after 5 consecutive days of good behavior and remember their supplies is something my students work really hard towards and look forward too.
