My students need math visuals to help help with our current curriculum. Eureka math has different strategies that students can use to solve life long math problems. However it doesn’t come with enough engaging manipulalatives.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At our elementary school we have great students. They are respectful, responsible, and most importantly, they are eager to learn. Most of my students are bilingual with low academic parent support. Therefore their vocabulary and math skills are low (English and Spanish) compared with students whose parents are educated. I am currently a bilingual teacher in a low poverty district and neighborhood. The majority of our students are Hispanic who need as many resources and help from teachers as they can get.
My Project
If students get these cards, kits and math games they will be able to use different manipulatives and different strategies to learn math. When students use manipulatives to learn they are more engaged and make learning fun. That will be able to work in small groups and help one another. I believe that every student can learn but they need different materials to show their ability and thinking skills. Unfortunately most of our students don’t have any math math materials at home that are fun. If we are funded students will really enjoy using these materials to learn math. It would make learning fun and engaging.
