it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Learning the same way day in and day out can be boring! My students are creative! Our days are often so full of reading and math activities that my students don't often get to show their creativity. Help my students show what they are learning and be creative through project based learning.
I teach at a unique urban school.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. I teach students Kindergarten through fifth grade, many of whom have individual needs that does not allow them to attend school daily. Many of the students I teach have emotional and social issues, have frequent medical treatments, have safety concerns, have difficulty in a traditional school setting and/or are homeless. My students each face their own challenges everyday outside of school.
My Project
I want my students to be able to use their creativity to show what they have learned. I would like to incorporate more literature and books into our math and science, and allow my students to create projects. Project-based learning will help them take information that they have learned and present it in a way that also allows them to express their creativity. Project-based learning will also drive their quest for knowledge as they research and create various projects. They will use the requested materials to gain knowledge and make posters, reports, speeches, and books to present. They will present to small groups, as well as the whole group. Project-based learning is an engaging and fun way to drive learning!
This project will provide my students with supplies and materials outside of the "basic" pencil, paper, and textbooks.
My students, through project based learning, will creatively show what they are learning. By creating various learning projects, my students will be able to drive their own learning in a fun and creative manner. They will work in groups and independently. They will present their knowledge and what they have learned, across the curriculum, in a safe, welcoming environment.
