Fully Functional Listening Center For 32 Buzzing Kinders!
My students need a listening center and read- aloud books to go with it.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Herlo's classroom raised $426
This project is fully funded
My Students
I have 32 wonderful and bright students. They are all eager to learn many things in kindergarten. As a new teacher, I am motivated to bring new and exciting ideas into the classroom. I teach low-income students in a Chicago neighborhood. My school is great, unfortunately, it lacks necessary funding that is greatly needed. The principal and the staff are great to work with. We all help each other in order to benefit student learning, which is most important to me as an educator. Without funding, the students are not given the accurate amount of supplies needed to complete the school year.
I teach ESL students reading, math, writing, social studies, and science.
My students love participating in centers for reading and math, but I would love to incorporate a writing center filled with the right materials.
My Project
I am asking for the very first set of Read-Aloud books and headphones set for my listening center. As a new teacher working in cps, my students do not yet have all the supplies needed for a fully functional classroom. The Read- Aloud books will increase my students’ knowledge in reading and will be a motivational tool to help them want to learn how to read.
Having these materials will make a difference in how I teach, and how my students learn in my classroom.
The "Best- Buy Listening Center" is set up as a complete listening center. The rugged metal center comes with four adjustable headphones and a junction box with volume controls. There’s even designated space for your read-along books and CDs! The "Listen, Read, and Rhyme With Dr. Seuss" has lots of rhyme, repetition and really silly characters that make Dr. Seuss a fun-to-read favorite with children! This delightful collection helps students build phonemic awareness and increase reading fluency as they follow along with 4 beloved books and 4 playfully narrated CDs—complete with music, sound effects and page-turn signals. Students who have trouble learning to read need to be specifically taught the relationships of letters, words and sounds. Each child needs a different amount of practice to be a fluent reader.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
