Full-time Prek Student Continuing Education

I need this computer because I am going back to school for my MA in Literacy education specialization while I am also teaching full time. I do not have a computer in my home.

My Project

I am a Pre-K teacher entering my 10th year in the classroom. This fall, I will also begin graduate school to pursue a Master’s degree in Literacy. I am deeply passionate about early reading development, especially in light of the high rates of illiteracy across the country. I believe that building strong reading foundations in the early years can change the trajectory of a child’s life.

To support both my graduate coursework and my teaching, I am requesting an Apple iMac 24” desktop computer.

This technology will be essential for me as I juggle full-time teaching and graduate school. I will be using the iMac to complete my online coursework, access digital textbooks, and participate in synchronous class discussions and group projects. Courses I’ll be taking include “Reading Assessment and Instruction,” “Emergent Literacy,” and “Instructional Approaches for Diverse Learners.” These courses require consistent access to video conferencing platforms, large research databases, and various reading and writing applications — all of which function best on a reliable and high-capacity device.

Beyond coursework, I’ll use this computer to conduct research on evidence-based reading interventions and strategies for supporting emergent readers — especially students with learning differences. I plan to explore programs like Heggerty, Fundations, and Science of Reading-aligned resources, and use the iMac to download and organize instructional materials, manage student data, and design small group lessons.

This year, I will also be teaching in a co-teaching model classroom that includes students receiving special education services. The new tools and knowledge I gain in my graduate program — supported by access to this computer — will allow me to design more individualized, inclusive, and effective instruction for all learners in my room.

Thank you for helping me further my education and deepen the impact I can make in my classroom
