My students need 8 packs of fine sharpie markers and 3 packs of pencils to create their illustrations. My students use sharpie markers to outline their drawings before they paint them or color them.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very special to me, not only because of their diverse backgrounds but also for their enthusiasm in learning new things in art. In my school, there are approximately 500 students enrolled each year. These students come from diverse backgrounds, from African to Asia, and from South America to the Caribbean. The neighborhood is mostly inhabited by a large Hispanic population and African-American population. Parents are very supportive of their children's education and are always present in school events and trips. My school is a great help for the community, especially for our students' parents. There are a variety of activities and events that are open for parents and the community. Among these are movie nights, parents night, Field day, music concerts, and Awards ceremonies. We work together with our students to bring awareness to our community. One example of this is the breast cancer awareness walk, held every year during the month of October.
As the Art teacher at my school, I want to expand my students' learning in visual arts by providing them with tools and resources to create works of art.
My Project
In art class, my students work on drawings and illustrations most of the time. We work on drawing journals at the beginning of class, sketch drawings before creating a painting and illustrations that are painted and colored after we outline the drawings. Often times, we run out of pencils or our sharpie markers get dried out because of how much we use them. We would like to have new markers for our illustrations and new pencils for our everyday drawings.
My students will be very thankful for this donations since one of their biggest interests is drawing and illustrating almost all the time.
