My students need additional STEM activities, Real-World STEM Challenges Small-Group Kit, paper to chart our questions, data and finding, as well as additional writing materials to promote details in their Science and Engineering Notebooks

My Students
As my students walk in the the room in the morning, the once empty desks transform to a sea of diversity. Beginning our academic day (and throughout), I ask these little people, "Shall we learn about...?" They reply in eager unison, "We shall!" I look about, seeing little faces ready, willing and able to to tackle the next task that awaits them.
I teach at a school in Los Angeles with a 60% Title 1 population, and 100% of my class are English Language Learners.
All my students know they are a part of our special community and that everyone brings something unique to the table. This side or that of the socio-economical spectrum, skin shade or cultural background they are equals and deserve an equitable education, an amazing one at that!
This school year, I am excited to have a classroom of 24 children and more than seven different home languages! How much culture is that?! All in one room, and it's not even the U.N. All the same, we're preparing to lead.
My Project
The "Real-World STEM Challenges Small-Group Kit" will allow my students to work independently and/or collaboratively gaining knowledge and problem-solving skill.
These materials will not only provide STEM activities and learning, but will, also, promote language acquisition for my English Language Learners, collaboration and independence.
Although we will be delving deeper into science and engineering through the year, these activities can bolster students understanding of the Engineering Design Process with a lowered affective filter as it will act as a "choice station" for exploration.
It compliments our already rigorous curriculum and provides students more opportunities to record their questions, data, findings, and their learning in their Science and Engineering Notebooks with their new colored pencils and markers.
