Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fourth graders are energetic, smart and eager to learn. They are from many different countries and many are learning English. However, that is not stopping them from learning. The majority of my students come from low-income families. Their parents do the best to provide for them, but it's not enough.

My fourth grade students believe in themselves and don't give up.

I teach in a low-income, Title One school. As teachers, we often spend a lot of our own money to make sure our kids have all the supplies they need to learn. I want my students to have everything they deserve, to have a successful school year.

My Project

As part of GM's initiative to promote STEM projects, my class has decided to model the project "Science Everywhere". My project will benefit students during science and math. I would like to teach my students to use several computer programs to differentiate instruction and accommodate their varying needs.

My students need a laptop to help them research information for their upcoming science fair project.

They will also access supplemental materials such as Discovery Science, Gizmos, Reflex Math, and i-Ready. These programs are beneficial for their academic success. I want my students to learn to love science by doing different STEM activities.

Soon we will be learning about the different types of energy such as mechanical, electrical, and sound energy. They will look up educational videos and use the laptop to read online books about the different types of energy. In addition, the laptop will provide them with additional educational opportunities. The implementation of technology will lend itself towards my school's goal of being STEM designated.
