Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach students from various cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic status. They are sweet, energetic, and motivated to learn. My students are learning to have a growth mindset because they want to be successful and want to please their parents.
Students can succeed when they have the right tools.
My students are eager to learn; however, they need technology to support their learning goals. Most of my students enjoy technology. It's a great way to motivate students. My students want to succeed; they just need the right tools.
My Project
I want to provide my students with a robust education that includes science and technology. Our school is in the process of becoming a certified STEAM school. STEAM, the next generation science standards, integrates science, technology, engineering, art, and math. These new science standards require students to utilize technology to create projects and collaborate with other students. I’m trying to acquire a class set of Chromebooks so that all my students have equitable access to technology. My school doesn’t have sufficient funding for technology. The computers and iPads that we do have are old, slow, and do not function well.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
