Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

COVID has allowed an opportunity to create an outdoor classroom to enrich and provide our students with a safe space that supports creativity, innovation, and design. Generating the opportunity to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics is vital to promote curiosity & exploration, to empower students to ask thought provoking questions and connect their problem solving skills to real-world situations.

Every week all kindergarten & first grade students are provided a special time to participate in hands on STEAM activities that encourage problem solving and critical thinking skills.

We are in need of more materials to foster their love for building, creating, engineering, and the visual arts. Our students look forward to & love STEAM and we want to provide them with a variety of ways to explore, design and work collaboratively with their peers.

Currently, our students are excavating in sand tables, building with wooden blocks and painting on the asphalt with water. They love showcasing their creations yet we have limited resources to provide adequate opportunity for them to show their full potential. With these new, engaging materials, the sky is the limit to what they can create and explore.
