Full STEAM Ahead 2.0: Connecting Science, Art and Technology
My students need laptop computers to conduct research and create powerpoint and other presentations of their insect study.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Gaiter's classroom raised $530

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"The art challenges the technology, and the technology inspires the art."- John Lasseter. My students integrate STEM concepts everyday in my classroom. Conducting research and creating presentations require tools that are not readily available to my students. This project will change that!
My students have converted a bland outdoor space into a literacy garden, where they read and collaborate on group projects.
In addition, a learning wall was created, which is an ongoing learning tool. This year, my students will plant a butterfly garden, documenting the the insect life that is attracted to the plants cultivated. In addition, they will conduct research on all insects that are attracted to the space, and create a school insect guide that they will share with the school community.
My Project
My students will use the laptops requested in this proposal to conduct internet searches for their research questions and to gain additional knowledge about insect and plant life in our garden space. In addition, they will learn how to create PowerPoint and Prezi presentations to share their findings and observations and will use word processing programs to create an insect and plant life guide, which they will publish and share with the school community. These materials, along with art supplies funded previously will enhance this learning experience for my students and enable them to truly see and connect Science, Art and Technology.
My students are natural born scientists, curious about the world around them and love learning science.
Having this resource will enhance my classroom environment and provide my students with the technology needed to become digital literate citizens. Many of my students do not have the financial means to have technology at their fingertips. This proposal will help to level the playing field and provide my students with the access they need to succeed, learn and grow.
