My Project
HI! I am a 8 year teacher moving into a new school. Even though I am moving within my county, I am not able to take anything that was bought with funds to other schools. While I have lots to take, I need a little help finishing the job! Over my years as a teacher I have learned that home, especially in low income schools, isn't always the "place to be". The school I will be moving to has a 80% free and reduced lunch rate, meaning 80% of the families in our zone are living below the poverty line. However, many students spend just as much time at school as they do at home. For some it is the single place they feel safe, comfortable, and full. As a teacher it is my goal to create this environment so my students have a "home". All the things on this list will help with that. I have included snack, decor, and supplies, all with students well bring in mind. I have also included books, as literacy is a very important part of my room. Lastly, I have included organization tools because studies show that a clean environment makes learning more effective. This is also the first year since 2020 that my school district is not supplying supplies for my students. This now put that burden on some of my kiddo's parents and I would like to lift some of that burden. Thank you so much for anything you can do!
