My Students

Our school is a newcomer program that provides a warm welcome to students in middle and high school who are new to the country. Our students are 100% SLIFE, which means they have limited or interrupted formal education. The students and their families are learning to live in a new country and find a way to support their everyday lives.

A full belly equals a full brain that helps our students to learn more and stay focused throughout the day.

Our goal is to not only nourish their minds with English language instruction but to also keep them nourished physically.

My Project

Due to the pandemic, my students have had to shift to remote learning. As students new to the country, they had already faced many daily challenges, but now they have to rely on learning English remotely and not being able to receive their daily nutrition from school meals.

By providing them with food and purchasing remote learning materials, we will be able to help these families through these challenging times.

This project will help me to make snack bags for each family and purchase resources to continue distance learning for the students.
