Fueling Young Minds: Snacks and Drinks for Summer Literacy Camp

My Project

This summer, I am leading a literacy camp designed to help students maintain and strengthen their reading skills during the break. Our camp serves students from diverse backgrounds, many of whom face food insecurity and do not have consistent access to healthy snacks and drinks. When students are hungry or dehydrated, it's harder for them to focus, engage, and learn.

That's why I'm requesting support to provide individually packaged snacks and drinks to our campers.

These items will help create a welcoming, nurturing environment where students feel cared for and ready to learn. Our goal is to make summer learning not only educational but also enjoyable.

With your support, our campers will have access to granola bars, applesauce, chips, bottled water, and 100% juice boxes—simple but meaningful items that help students stay energized and focused throughout the day.

Our students are curious, energetic learners from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of them rely on school for consistent meals and structure. This camp provides an important bridge over the summer months, ensuring that students do not lose the reading gains they made during the school year.

The students in our summer camp are rising 1st–5th graders, and they are eager to grow as readers and thinkers. Your contribution will help them feel supported in every way—academically and physically.
