Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is hosting our annual "Camp Read-a-Lot Literacy Night," an engaging evening designed to build excitement around reading and connect families with valuable literacy resources. The school will be transformed into a campsite, and students will be given a "trail map" to guide them through various fun and educational literacy stations. To complete their map, students must successfully visit and participate in several stations, such as "Starlight Storytelling," "Map Making with Words," and "S'mores Sight Words."

As a special reward for their hard work and dedication to completing their learning trail, we want to give each student a delicious, individually-packaged bag of trail mix to take home!

My students are bright, enthusiastic learners who thrive on hands-on activities and positive reinforcement. Many of the families in our school face economic challenges, and free, engaging events like "Camp Read-a-Lot" are a wonderful way to provide enrichment outside of the regular school day. The simple act of receiving a treat for their participation makes the learning experience even more special and memorable. We love finding creative ways to celebrate their achievements, and a small snack is a tangible way to say, "Great job on your reading journey!"
