My Project
At our Title I middle school, many of our students arrive each Saturday eager to learn, but often without the nourishment needed to stay focused and energized throughout the morning. Saturday School is a valuable opportunity for academic support, tutoring, and skill-building, yet hunger can easily become a barrier to engagement. By providing students with snacks and juice throughout our Saturday sessions, we can create a learning environment where every child is prepared to thrive.
Offering familiar snacks during Saturday School ensures that students can focus on mastering academic skills instead of battling hunger or fatigue.
The snacks and beverages in this project, variety packs of chips, cookies, fruit snacks, and individual juice boxes serve a purpose far beyond simply filling stomachs.
These items help us promote a supportive and welcoming space. When students know that their basic needs will be met, they arrive with a more positive mindset and are more willing to participate. A quick snack break allows them to recharge, collaborate with peers, and stay motivated throughout their lessons. The variety of snacks also ensures that students with different preferences and needs feel included and valued.
