This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a first-time, special education teacher, I’ve learned that every student’s needs are unique, and creating a supportive, nurturing environment is key to their success. My students are diverse, with varying learning abilities, and some face challenges that make it harder to stay focused and engaged throughout the day. That's why the items I'm requesting—snacks and personal care products—are so important for their success.
The snacks will help keep my students energized, especially since many of them require frequent breaks and need fuel to stay focused.
Snacks like crackers, cheese puffs, and granola bars are easy to distribute and provide sustained energy without the sugar crash. When my students are fueled and feeling good, they’re more engaged in class activities, whether it’s working on reading skills, math problems, or sensory exercises.
Additionally, the personal care items, like deodorant, are essential to ensure that my students feel comfortable and confident in their own skin. Many of my students are learning about self-care and independence, and having these products available helps them build that sense of responsibility and self-esteem.
My goal is to create a classroom environment where my students feel supported in every way—emotionally, socially, and physically. With these items, I can ensure that they stay comfortable, focused, and ready to learn.
What makes my students special is their resilience. Each day, they show incredible perseverance, and it’s my privilege to help them grow, learn, and achieve their full potential. Your support will help provide the tools they need to thrive!
