Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our goal is to create an engaging, equitable, and literacy-rich classroom environment that supports all learners. With a subscription to Scholastic Scope, students will have access to high-interest, standards-aligned nonfiction and fiction articles that are thoughtfully crafted to build critical thinking, vocabulary, and close reading skills.
The digital and print resources provided by Scope also offer scaffolding tools that support diverse learners, including ELLs and students with IEPs, ensuring that every student has access to rigorous content that sparks curiosity and deepens comprehension.
In addition, Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) gift cards will allow for the customization of instruction with ready-to-use, teacher-created resources. TpT offers differentiated materials, project-based learning units, and engaging practice activities that can be tailored to student needs and classroom goals. With this flexibility, educators can adapt quickly to student progress and personalize learning paths—something particularly vital in classrooms with a wide range of learning styles and abilities. These materials will enhance daily instruction across reading, writing, and grammar, providing both enrichment and intervention as needed.
Finally, funding for a classroom set of The Crossover by Kwame Alexander will support both academic and social-emotional growth. This award-winning novel in verse resonates with middle-grade readers through its dynamic storytelling, rich language, and relevant themes of family, identity, and perseverance. A class-wide reading experience with The Crossover will foster community through shared discussion, while also encouraging reluctant readers to engage with literature in a new, accessible format. Together, these resources will build a vibrant literacy program where students feel empowered to read, think, and express themselves.
