My students are diverse. They have different interests and things that excite them which makes the classroom environment exciting. New ideas are always accepted and tried. My idea for this year is to keep my students moving, even when they're sitting. I'm hoping that this will foster more creativity, new ideas, and perseverance in difficult tasks. Even though every student is different, one thing they have in common is that they all need to be given the chance to move!
My Project
My students need opportunities to move to increase their understanding in math and science. Currently, I have four yoga balls in my classroom. All of my students beg and plead to use the yoga ball chairs. I have a few wobble cushions as well, but would like enough for the whole class. They are so excited about them and I'm trying to get enough so the whole class can benefit from movement.
Movement not only keeps bodies healthy, but it also keeps minds healthy!
Some of my students that have trouble paying attention, have a much longer attention span when they are able to move. It's amazing. I am excited to see my students increase in their problem solving abilities as movement helps them to solve harder and harder problems.
