Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a community school director, raising funds for high school students from low income backgrounds is crucial for fostering equity in education. I love that my students are resilient, full of potential, and eager to learn despite the challenges they face outside the classroom. I want to give them a space where they feel comfortable and confident, which is why I'm requesting motivational decor, snacks, and board games. Having motivational words around will help inspire them to believe in themselves and keep pushing forward. Snacks ensure they have the energy and support they need to focus on their learning, knowing they can always count on my office. Board games provide a safe and engaging after-school activity, encouraging them to stay in the building and foster critical thinking, collaboration, and social skills.
My goal is to create a welcoming environment where students feel supported, both emotionally and academically, and where they can recharge and refocus.
Additionally, my space will be a place my students develop life skills which will greatly enhance students' learning experience and their preparedness for adulthood. With exposure to skills focusing on college/career readiness, financial literacy can make essential skills more approachable and enjoyable. These resources will make a difference by offering them motivation, nourishment, and a sense of belonging, all of which contribute to their overall well-being and success. My students are special because they strive to overcome obstacles with determination, and I believe with the right environment, they can achieve even more.
