Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Providing bean bags, flexible seating, and sports balls gives middle schoolers from low socioeconomic backgrounds and diverse communities a chance to learn and recharge in ways that meet their individual needs. Many students face stressors outside of school, and having a calm, comfortable space or an outlet for physical movement helps them manage emotions, stay engaged, and feel valued. These resources support equity by creating an inclusive environment where all students—regardless of background—can thrive academically and socially. For my students with disabilities and IEPs, these tools are especially critical for supporting sensory regulation, promoting focus, and reducing behavioral challenges that impact learning.
