Fuel Creativity in our Classroom

Help me give my students some tundra drums to enhance their study of music from all parts of the world.

My Students

Our school is a charter school that utilizes the School-wide Enrichment Model to build a strong educational foundation and to provide an enriching, individualized, and varied educational experience to all students. We provide students with a strong academic program including enrichment opportunities built upon their individual strengths and talents.

Our energetic, outstanding and passionate students are unified through music.

They all help each other succeed. When one student understands a musical concept then they will turn to their neighbor and help them. They do not have much, but what they do have they appreciate. They strive to have a well rounded education and through music they are able to achieve it.

The demographics of our school covers all of Salt Lake County. We are a Title I school filled with students who want the same opportunity as everyone else. Many students do not have the means to pay for private lessons, so learning a musical instrument is like CANDY to them.

My Project

It has been proven that students who know how to keep the beat are able to read better. Having these drums in the classroom will allow them to learn these skills while having fun. It will also help to keep students engaged during music class because who doesn't want to hit a drum.

Playing drums has been known to help students release frustration, disappointment and stress.

Drumming also helps to improve communication skills, boost brain power and develop confidence. It is an easy instrument to play so it helps students learn rhythm without becoming frustrated or discouraged.

Having the tundra drums would be a real treat and joy for our students. All grades will be able to use them and they will last us for a long time because they are of good quality. The tundra drum is just the right size because students can play them without having to tilt or hold it in an awkward position. Please help fuel our students creativity.
