This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is my first year teaching in an NYC public school and I am fortunate enough to have such an amazing group of students! We are a 1st-grade special education classroom full of love, learning, and laughter! My students love to play, learn and care for one another. They love coming to school every single day. However, my students face many adverse situations every single day. Most of my students live in shelters, foster homes, and city housing projects. Some of my students come into class upset in the mornings because they didn’t get to eat, or their clothes don’t fit, or they simply don’t have a pencil.
However, with all those adversities, my amazing students come in with loving arms, eager to take over the world with their love and knowledge.
My Project
If you've ever worked with children, you know that they love the movie Frozen. They love Elsa, Anna and Olaf the snowman. When my students found out that Frozen 2 was being released, they begged me go take them on a field trip to see it. I called the theaters, but everything was too expensive. Each ticket was roughly $13.
It is very hard for parents to pay $13 for movie tickets.
So if we get funded, they will be extremely happy, especially since it is right before their Christmas break. They will always be extremely grateful for this trip.
