From the Mixed Up Files of Ms. Wong - Case Closed 2
My students need sturdy cases so that they are able to take their guitar home to practice what they have learned in class.

My Students
Every year, the School District eliminates enrichment programs from their budget, most often in the art and music programs.
I am an elementary school classroom teacher in a Title I (95 % students living in homes with family income below the poverty level) urban school district in Northern California.
Many of the parents are newly arrived immigrants from other countries and are trying to establish a new life in a new country.
My Project
Little Kids Rock is a program that has provided schools with instruments for students to learn to play. Through generous donations from DonorsChoose, I have also acquired guitars, mandolins and ukuleles. I wanted to get as many instruments into the hands of my students and purchased good but inexpensive instruments. However, I neglected to get cases so that they could take the instrument home to practice.
Music is - and has always been - an important part of a well-rounded education.
In conjunction with our after-school program, I have had the opportunity to teach students that - despite their economic status - are excited and willing to learn to play an instrument.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
