My Project

Help My Students Explore Latin America Through Virtual Reality!

I teach Spanish Language and Culture to low-income Hispanic and Black high school students, including those with physical and intellectual special needs.

While they are bright and full of potential, many have had limited exposure to the richness of Latin American culture, often their own heritage, due to financial, legal, or social barriers.

With your support, I want to virtually take them on an unforgettable journey. Through the power of virtual reality, students will explore places like Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, and Tikal, all from our classroom in the Bronx. For some, this may be the closest they’ll ever get to traveling outside New York City. VR will help them connect deeply with their roots, broadening their perspectives and making learning meaningful.

The students will virtually visit historical landmarks, museums, and sites that bring Latin America to life. Virtual Reality experiences support different learning styles, especially benefiting tactile and kinesthetic learners. The students will gain pride in their heritage and see how Latin American culture shapes the world.

My students come from ethnically diverse backgrounds, Latin American, African, Caribbean. Many have never left NYC and struggle with motivation. Nonetheless, I believe in them even when they do not. I see what they can become if given the chance to dream beyond their environment.

Your donation will not just buy technology, it will open a window to the world. It will show them that their culture matters, that they matter, and that their futures can reach far beyond what they currently see.
