Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My resilient students have been working on their ability to overcome challenges they face by setting social, emotional, and academic goals. Through goal setting, they feel a sense of control over their own destinies. My classroom and our school have become a place they can explore and navigate their different interests that may not have been able to otherwise due to constraints of finances.

100% of students at our school are on free and reduced meals.

The current status of our budget does not allow for essential tools needed for students learning outside of the classroom.

My Project

The items we are requesting will allow students to put what they're learning inside the classroom into a living class project which will also produce edible items and beautiful plants to look at. For years students have learned about the life cycle of plants and vegetables through videos or reading textbooks.

This project will allow students to grow their very own garden.

They will be able to pour in the soil, plant the seeds, water it, and watch it grow while documenting every step through pictures, illustrations, and eventually sharing the bounty of the garden whether it is a vegetable or a bouquet of flowers they've grown.
