From Tech Lab to Spanish Fun: Let’s Learn Together!
Help me give my students a bright, safe, and welcoming Spanish classroom with bilingual books, educational games, flashcards, cleaning supplies, and a colorful rug for learning and gathering.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love my students because they are curious, resilient, and full of potential. Many of them are English learners from multilingual and multicultural backgrounds, which makes our classroom a vibrant and rich community. For most, this will be their first time learning Spanish in a formal setting, and I want to create a joyful, safe space where they feel confident to explore a new language and culture.
The materials I’m requesting will make a big difference in their learning experience.
The rug is the heart of my project. As I prepare to transform an empty former computer lab into a Spanish classroom, this large, colorful Spanish-English rug will be the first thing students see when they walk in. It will give them a clean, comfortable place to gather and create an inviting space where they feel safe, focused, and excited to learn. This rug will help establish routines, build community, and support joyful learning from day one.
Bilingual books will encourage reading in both Spanish and English, supporting literacy development. Games like Lotería and matching cards will make vocabulary practice fun and interactive, helping students build confidence and retention.
Cleaning supplies such as hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes are essential to keep our classroom safe and healthy, especially since students share materials and work closely together. These items help prevent illness and create a learning-friendly environment.
Before becoming the Spanish teacher, I volunteered at this school and built a strong connection with the children. This project is not just about furnishing a room, it’s about creating a warm and inspiring home for language learning.
Teaching Spanish is not just my job; it’s my passion. Since I was a little girl playing “teacher,” I’ve dreamed of sharing language and culture, and now I get to live that dream with them.
