My Students
I have very inquisitive students. They want to know more. For years, due to their socioeconomic situation, they have not had access to technology nor been challenged to find out more about the world around them beyond the basics.
Once my students find out they have no limitations other than what they place on themselves, they are hungry to learn and explore.
We've seen amazing growth in my students because they have been given access to current technology. They invent new ways to use the tech that were never intended and create new applications.
My Project
My students have great ideas to solve environmental issues. They are out of the box problem solvers that do not have the resources to try what they imagine. Last year, one of our students had a idea to stop a garden hose from kinking. Kinked garden hoses start leaking and thus, wasting water. After taking their idea to a CAD program to a 3D printer, they came up with a workable solution. Small global solution, but it was one step!
Students that can make what they dream are one step closer to solving global environmental issues!
My students sometimes have a good idea for a wind turbine. Making it from paper and actually building it on a printer brings their solution one step closer to solving a renewable energy issue.
