From Spoken Word to Manga: Class Sets to Engage!

Help me give my students class sets of two amazing books to spark engagement.

My Project

A way that I show my love for my students is by affirming their lived experiences and interests. These two class sets address both of these needs while strengthening literacy throughout the school day.

With Inheritance by Elizabeth Acevedo, my students will be able to hold this visual poem celebrating Black hair and Afro-Latinidad while listening to the amazing spoken word poem performed by the author.

The other class set, Cells at Work, connects to a huge student interest at my school--manga! With this manga title about the inside of the human body, 7th grade science will be infused with an exciting literacy project!
