Help me give my students alphabet sounds teaching tubs and other items that will help them learn about sounds in words.

My Students
My students are special needs children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. The students attend the preschool classes 2 times a week for 2 1/2 hours each session. They are in a setting where there are also typically developing peers in the classroom who can provide them with models of good language and social skills. During class, I have the opportunity to work with the special needs children as a speech therapist and help them develop their communication skills.
These children, like all children, desperately want to communicate with those around them and make their voices heard.
They are eager to work on the tasks that I give them because they know that it is helping them to better communicate with others.
My Project
One of the most common things that I work on in small groups with my students is helping them to develop phonemic awareness, which is the ability to recognize different speech sounds and how they change the meanings of words. For preschoolers, the most common focus is to work on the beginning sounds in words. I like to help them see that "sun", "see", and "sit" start with the same sound, as do "mouse", "mud", and "mix".
These skills are the ultimate necessary skill to developing good reading skills in later school years.
I am anxious to have these manipulatives and magnets to provide my children with visual interest that will make it more appealing to them to learn about and understand the concept of sound play and be able to use it to develop their pre-reading skills.
