My Project

As a first-year teacher launching a brand-new CTE Business class, I’m passionate about giving my students hands-on opportunities to think like real-world innovators. Our class is built around problem-based learning—students explore real challenges, brainstorm creative solutions, and learn by doing. With your help, I can create a classroom makerspace that brings their ideas to life!

I’m requesting a Cricut cutting machine and a variety of low-tech craft supplies to help students design, prototype, and market their own business ideas.

With the Cricut, students can design and cut custom logos, packaging, and promotional materials for their mock businesses—giving their ideas a polished, professional edge.

Craft supplies like paper, vinyl, glue, markers, and cardstock will give them the flexibility to explore multiple prototypes, from product mock-ups to point-of-sale displays.

This makerspace will be the heart of our classroom - where creativity meets entrepreneurship. My students won't just learn about marketing, branding, and innovation - they’ll experience it.

This makerspace will be especially helpful in my 7th grade Financial Literacy class and 8th Grade Introduction to Business class. Finance isn't always an easy concept to grasp. With this makerspace, my students won’t just learn about saving, budgeting, and spending...they'll apply those concepts by building their own mock businesses. The makerspace will give them the tools to design and create products, brand their businesses, and calculate costs, helping them understand real-world concepts like startup expenses, pricing, profit margins, and return on investment. Whether they’re crafting packaging or calculating the break-even point on a product they designed, students will see how financial decisions impact business success. This hands-on approach makes financial literacy engaging, relevant, and empowering.
