From Rough to Ready

Help me give my students a 20 inch planer to transform rough-cut lumber into smooth usable materials for our fabrication class.

My Project

The students in this class are makers and innovators. Some of them find it difficult to be successful in traditional academic classes. During this fabrication class, students get to build what they envision. The cost of materials, however, limits the projects our students can build.

Your contribution toward our classroom planer will allow us to use some rough-cut lumber I can get from a local source for free.

This planer will reduce the cost of materials and pay for itself in two years. With access to affordable raw materials students have more freedom to experiment, explore, innovate, and create without the financial burden of purchasing pre-finished lumber.
