My Students
I teach Intro to Animation and Art Design AB in a suburban neighborhood. My classes are populated by college-bound students who are engaged, career-minded, energetic, and creative. Students create culminating projects that require them to interact with clients and collaborate with group members similar to what they would experience if they were working for a professional design/animation firm.
My students are motivated and excited to learn and explore the different career pathways that are available in the Art and Media Career Pathway.
My Project
Students currently create designs using Adobe software. When their design has been approved they test the design by placing their design on products such as a coffee mug, t-shirt, DVD cases, and digital templates in Photoshop. Although, the program will allow students to "wrap" the design on the product. Students never get to test the placement (measurements) of their design on real products. But most importantly students never truly get to see a finished three-dimensional product.
The Cameo vinyl cutter will allow students to cut their design onto heat transfer vinyl and then be able to use a heat transfer machine to apply the vinyl to the shirt, tote bag, etc.
allowing the student to see their design on a finished product. This would allow the student to be able to plan, design, revise, and then implement their design thus having experienced the full design cycle.
