My Project
I teach an energetic and curious group of 7th-grade students in a STEM Robotics class in the Bronx. These students are creative problem-solvers who love hands-on learning and exploring how things work. They thrive when given the opportunity to design, build, and test their own ideas—especially when it involves robots!
We are diving into an exciting unit where students will work in teams to build their own robots using Hummingbird Robotics Kits.
While we have the coding tools and electronic parts, we need craft supplies to bring their ideas to life. Items like cardboard, pipe cleaners, glue guns, scissors, felt, popsicle sticks, zip ties, and googly eyes might seem simple—but they are the key ingredients to transforming a basic robot into a creative, functioning prototype.
These craft materials help students engineer real solutions to community-based challenges while making the learning meaningful and fun. Whether it's designing a robot that improves traffic safety or one that helps take care of a park, students learn to combine design, coding, and physical building—all while collaborating with classmates.
Our school community works hard to give students access to engaging STEM opportunities, but materials for creative building aren’t always in the budget. Your donation will help stock our classroom with the supplies students need to imagine, build, and test their own robot designs. Every glue stick or roll of tape supports a future engineer or inventor.
With your support, students will experience the full process of designing, prototyping, and presenting their robotic solutions—and most importantly, they'll believe in what they can achieve.
