My Students
I teach at a Title I school outside of Houston, Texas. Many of the students I serve receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. My school is located in a rural area and is full of happy students from many different walks of life. Our students come to school eager and ready to learn with a bright smile everyday. My little scholars thrive when exposed to new ideas but unfortunately the hardships they face can often hinder their understanding of new topics and or ideas. Their bright smiles and can do attitudes keep me motivated and make my love of teaching grow each and everyday.
My Project
My students need Chromebooks and a Canon Pixma printer in their classroom to work on improving their technological expertise, as well as an opportunity to type out their essays.
Many students do not have access to computers at home and lack the knowledge on how to use them efficiently.
With your help, I would love to implement a technology center that my students would use across all subjects, but specifically targeting their handwritten essays. Due to a lack of technology in each classroom, students do not have an opportunity to use the in-class computers for more than 20 minutes at a time. I would love to have a separate station for my students to work on typing out their essays and turning them into a professionally finished product.
Students would be allowed to move to the station daily to type, edit and print their essays for a more professional look. The Chromebooks will also be used for research projects and a entertaining way for students to be introduced to new topics.
