Help me give my students the help they need by using good social skills by teaching them good coping skills and how to manage their emotions, anxiety and anger.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a school counselor for two elementary schools. I currently work with K-6th grade students. The students that I work with have struggled in getting back in to the classroom do to significant changes in our schools with Covid-19. The students that come to my office struggle with high anxiety, self-regulation, social skills and emotional regulation. Some of the students have a hard time just being in the classroom do to the overwhelming stress of everything going on with the pandemic.
I have students that are having a hard time with things that are going on at home with grief, divorce parents, blended families, parents that are constantly fighting and they are in the middle.
My Project
These materials will help my students find the right coping skills they need to help them manage their emotions and their frustrations. It will help them build their independence and to be more assertive to communicate effectively.
I want my students to learn how to self-regulate on their own by communicating their wants and needs.
It will help them face their fears and help them work through what ever comes their way. I believe that all students can be resilient if we teach them the right way to bounce back no matter what they go through.
