Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This will help us start our first phase of our garden project, in which all of our students will be able to learn and grow in many ways! This will teach them responsibility, working with others and most importantly accomplishing goals for themselves. We would love to be able to teach them sustainability for their future!

Not only will be they be learning how to grow hands on, their own edible foods, but how to care and maintain the gardens for harvesting as well.

These will be life long skills for many of our students, in which our population is more than three-quarters from low-income families and or homeless.

We will need garden boxes to store our tools needed to work in our garden beds and keep them from the elements/

We need garden tools to use in those garden beds as we till and maintain our crops as they grow.

We would like to make our own compost from school waste and be able to cut down on unnecessary products being thrown away.

To better identify our plants and herbs, we will mark them with the plant markers.

We will use the fabric weed barrier to help control the weeds while we are growing our various crops.

The hoops and cheesecloth will help to keep out any unwanted pests, birds, and insects when our crops are brown. This will help to maintain a longer growing of our crops with little to no damage.

This is just the first phase of many more to come!

This is very near and dear to not only me but for all of my students, so that they may not go hungry and be self-sustainable.
