From Novels to Project Based Learning

Help me give my students novels to read, ponder, explore, discuss, and build projects from in order to expand learning and reading comprehension.

My Project

This interdisciplinary project bridges literature and real-world application by transforming traditional novel studies into engaging, project-based learning experiences. Students will read selected novels and then explore the themes, historical context, character development, and social issues presented in the texts through hands-on, collaborative projects. These projects may include multimedia presentations, creative writing, art, community outreach, or problem-solving scenarios that connect the novel’s content to modern-day situations. By moving beyond standard book reports, this project empowers students to think critically, communicate effectively, and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.

Goals:

- Enhance literary analysis skills through active learning.

- Foster creativity and collaboration.

- Encourage real-world connections to literature.

- Develop research, planning, and presentation skills.

Target Audience:

Middle school students in gifted and talented interdisciplinary courses.
