it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students represent a beautiful diversity of backgrounds, languages, and life experiences. Each one brings a unique voice and perspective to our classroom. Many of them are navigating the challenges of being second language learners—42% of our student body, in fact—while also working to close the gaps caused by pandemic learning loss and below-grade-level reading skills.
This project will help bridge those gaps.
With the DJI Mic 2, I’ll be able to capture my lessons clearly and generate live captions using Google Slides. Students will benefit from hearing and seeing the words in real time—an essential support for language acquisition, reading comprehension, and vocabulary development. Additionally, the mic stores high-quality audio, which I can upload and run through AI to generate summaries and highlight key points from each day’s lesson. These summaries will be shared online, allowing students to revisit material or catch up when they’re absent.
This single piece of equipment will serve approximately 150 students next year and will be used daily. It will help my students access content more equitably, understand material more deeply, and build confidence as learners.
