My Students
My students come from low-income and working class families and are part of a long tradition of hard work and learning. Most of them have part time jobs after school, and what they do have, has not come easy.
Our school is the oldest and most crowded high school in the city.
Most of them really need support, so I give them all I've got. They are willing to work hard for me in spite of my corny science jokes because they know that I believe in them!
My Project
Learning about the basic molecular shapes in theory is one thing, but building the models is quite another. Molecular geometry is an essential concept in chemistry, and creating models is an essential part of learning Science.
These materials will help my students build models and learn the basics of molecular geometry.
So, how is a Trigonal Pyramidal shaped molecule different from a Trigonal Planar? Students won't just read about it -- they will design and build these models from the ground up.
This hands on experience will take my students' understanding from molecule to "mol-e-Cool"!
