My students are THINKERS! They love to ponder the new topics they are learning and question, question, question WHY! As they build their knowledge, especially in math and science, they naturally apply the knowledge to their own lives. This leads them to become engineers who want to solve problems they see around them.
My Project
These two 3D printers will allow students the opportunity to envision solutions to problems and, as actual engineers, print prototypes and test their designs. The WHY of science will become the HOW as students recognize the principles of the natural world and apply the knowledge to the solution.
The magic of a 3D printer is the ability to take the vision in your mind and hold that printed idea in your hand.
For example, as students are studying thermal energy and heat transfer they are attempting to design a container to keep their drinks cold. Students can print their own durable containers and try different models and shapes that allow them to add insulation to bring the scientific understanding of heat transfer to life.
