My Project
My students are curious, energetic, and eager to learn about the world around them. They love exploring new ideas but often struggle to understand big, abstract concepts like the Earth’s rotation or how weather works. In our classroom, we rely on hands-on learning because my students need to see, touch, and experience things in order to really grasp them. This project will give us the tools we need to dive into science in a way that makes sense. With materials like simple machines, weather tools, food chain models, and microscopes, my students will be able to explore through active learning. These tools will help them connect ideas deepen their understanding of the world.
Right now, most of our science materials come from the discard piles of other teachers or things I’ve purchased.
My students deserve the best tools for learning. We make do with what we have, but it's not enough. My students have big learning challenges and work hard every day to overcome them. They need high-quality, hands-on science tools to truly engage with these important topics. They’re not just learning about weather or machines, they’re learning to think critically, solve problems, and ask questions about how things work. These experiences will help them build confidence and develop a lifelong love of learning.
My goal for this project is to give my students meaningful opportunities to explore science with tools that are designed for their learning needs. These materials will allow us to make lessons come alive. Instead of just hearing about the food chain, they’ll build it. Instead of reading about Earth’s rotation, they’ll model it. I want every student to feel that spark of curiosity and discovery that comes from hands-on science. My students are bright, determined, and capable of amazing things when given the right opportunities!
